**We currently do not offer Infant Care**
Toddler - 1 to 2 years old

Developmental Characteristics:

  • Physical Development: Toddlers are becoming more mobile, progressing from walking to running, climbing, and exploring their environment. Fine motor skills are also developing, allowing them to stack blocks, feed themselves, and begin simple art activities.

  • Cognitive Development: Curiosity is high as toddlers begin to understand cause-and-effect, imitate adult actions, and engage in problem-solving. Play becomes more purposeful, and attention spans gradually increase.

  • Language Development: Vocabulary expands rapidly, with toddlers learning to name objects, express needs, and use short phrases. They also begin to follow simple directions.

  • Social-Emotional Development: Toddlers show strong emotions and may experience frustration as they learn to express themselves. They are beginning to develop social skills, such as sharing, parallel play (playing alongside peers), and forming attachments to caregivers.

Learning Environment Needs:

  • Safe, child-proofed spaces for exploration and active play

  • Age-appropriate toys and materials that encourage problem-solving, creativity, and fine/gross motor skills

  • A balance of structured routines and flexibility to support toddlers’ need for consistency and independence

  • Opportunities for both group and individual activities to support social development and self-discovery

Caregiver Role:

  • Provide nurturing guidance, comfort, and patience as toddlers test boundaries and assert independence

  • Model positive behaviors and language to support social and emotional growth

  • Offer consistent routines that promote security while allowing choice and independence

  • Communicate regularly with families to support developmental milestones and address individual needs

Pre-School - 2 to 3 years old

Our Pre-School program is a theme-based program in which children learn through activities based on a variety of age-appropriate topics. All activities follow an anti-bias curriculum. The teachers move through-out the Interest Centers in the classroom asking thought provoking questions and encouraging the children to try new things. Although encouragement and help are offered, each child is free to choose how they will participate.

Note:  We are proud partners of Seattle Preschool Program (SPP). If you are interested in being apart of Causey's, we ask that you apply through the City of Seattle by contacting (206)386-1050.

Pre-Kindergarten - 4 to 5 years old

Causey’s has several curriculum programs that provide developmentally and age-appropriate activities and materials, developing essential school readiness skills through exploration, investigation, and, of course, fun! While it is extremely important to understand that all children develop at their own rate, your child will receive pre-reading and writing activities along with activities corresponding to all the areas covered in our Pre-School program.
