ECEAP is state-funded preschool and is offered to families who meet income requirements and whose children are 3 years old but not yet 5 years old by August 31.
Children are accepted into ECEAP based on their age, family income or other reasons they would benefit from education, family support and health services.
ECEAP prioritizes children who are 4 years old by August 31 and accepts children who are 3 years old by August 31 when space is available.
Causey's Learning Center is participating in Early Achievers, Washington’s quality rating and improvement system (QRIS) administered by the Department of Early Learning. As an Early Achievers participant, we are demonstrating our commitment to offering high- quality child care and promoting school readiness.
What is a QRIS? A QRIS is a process for supporting and rewarding child care providers for providing high-quality care. More than 25 states have a statewide QRIS and Washington began implementing our system July 2012. Similar to a hotel rating, participating child care facilities are assigned a rating based on observed quality. The Early Achievers quality standards look at what we know is good for children and will help them get ready for school – things like our activities and curriculum, how we work with families, and how we interact with children. As a participant, we will get resources to help our program including coaching, training, and scholarships.
Early Achievers rates the quality of child care and early learning programs on a scale of 1 to 5. Simply by participating in Early Achievers, early learning professionals demonstrate a commitment to improving quality.
- At level 1, licensed child care providers meet Washington’s licensing requirements for health and safety. Programs with higher ratings have strong instruction, training for staff, and family engagement to support children’s success.
- Providers working on or rated level 2 are “participating in quality improvement.”
- Providers rated level 3-5 have achieved a “quality level of excellence.”
